Storytelling is a healing practice.
Delrisha skillfully uses digital storytelling as an art form to improve the life outcomes and opportunities for young people and their communities.
Areas of Practice
Education.
Young people everywhere—in traditional schools, institutions, and out of school deserve regular, safe access to high-quality educational opportunities. Adults continuing their education also deserve to access a supportive academic experience that honors the individual’s lived experience and provides sustainable development opportunities to improve their individual and communal livelihood.
Child Welfare.
Grown-ups have a responsibility to protect the youth and children in our global community. Until every child is provided a safe living environment, with access to basic living needs including high quality food, medical care, education, and access to a loving community with supportive adults—our collective work persists.
Justice Reform.
The United States incarcerates more young people than any country in the world—including nearly 60,000 kids and teenagers. Addressing the racial and economic barriers experienced by marginalized people in communities across the country is imperative to dismantling systemic racism and ending mass incarceration.
Community Wellness.
Coordinated leadership between youth organizers, activists, and politicians at the local and state levels has the power to transform communities. Young people do better when they come from communities where adults are healthy and well. They have a better shot at growing into community-minded adults who are self-sufficient when their communities are robust with resources for education, recreation, spirituality, healthcare, transportation, and diverse employment opportunities.
